What is the ROI of Video Production?

We understand it is important for you to consider what you stand to gain from your spending on video production.

First, define your goals for video production. Below are a few objectives you might have for commissioning a video production project:

  • Growing your audience
  • Generating leads
  • Optimizing conversions
  • Promoting an event
  • Increasing brand awareness
  • Educating customers on how to use product features
  • Closing sales

Let’s go over a few of the video projects we’ve produced for business and non-profit brands over the years, including the goals and typical price range for each type of video.

Video Formats & Pricing Examples

We’ve listed several common formats below. If you already know what you need, you can click on a project in this list to jump to the details:

EXAMPLE #1:

Format: Multi-Interview and/or Multi-Location Story with Dynamic B-Roll
Capture multiple perspectives from different people associated with your organization — founders, staff, customers, partners — and show a variety of visual backdrops to tell your brand story in a powerful, inspirational way.

Goal: Branding
If you want to create a timeless piece of content that shares your company story and vision, consider a Vision Video that inspires brand affinity.

Typical Price Range: $5,500 – $10,500
Some variables affecting pricing include: number of shoot days and locations, aerial videography, stock footage, etc.

EXAMPLE #2:

Format: 1-2 Interviews at Single Location with Dynamic B-Roll
Tell the story of a customer whose life has been changed by your product, filmed at the customer’s location or yours.

Goal: Conversion Optimization
If people are on the fence about whether to buy your product, a customer testimonial will help you seal the deal and improve conversions at the bottom of the funnel. Customer testimonials are most effective as an appeal to those who are already considering your product but haven’t yet committed. As a prospective customer, there’s nothing like seeing another user sharing their enthusiasm for the product and how it changed their lives.

Typical Price Range: $2,500 – $3,500
Some variables affecting pricing include: storyboard development, aerial videography, motion graphics, etc.

EXAMPLE #3:

Format: Kinetic Typography & Custom Graphics Story
Tell a story using motion typography or graphics.

Goal: Fundraising
Make the case to stakeholders to support your mission with a video that shares a high-impact message aided by creative use of text.

Typical Price Range: $3,500 – $6,500
Some variables affecting pricing include: scriptwriting, development of custom graphics and typography, aerial videography, stock footage, etc.

EXAMPLE #4:

Format: Event Re-Cap Video
Capture the energy and excitement of your event in a 30-60 second video.

Goal: Post-Event Marketing + Promotion of Next Event
Thank attendees and call them to further action by sharing with them a post-event recap video. Also use the video to promote the next event.

Typical Price Range: $1,850 – $3,100
Variables include shoot time, crew size, etc.

EXAMPLE #5:

Format: Direct Appeal with Script + Teleprompter
Have your subject speak directly into the camera with a succinct message and call-to-action.

Goal: Lead Generation
If you want to capture contact information from new leads, the direct appeal is a simple but invaluable content asset to move people from top-of-funnel to an opt-in, or from opt-in to sale. Often with this format, your subject looks directly into the camera as though they are making eye contact with the viewer.

Typical Price Range: $2,500 – $3,500
Some variables affecting pricing include: storyboard development or scriptwriting, design of custom graphics or typography, etc.

EXAMPLE #6:

Format: In-Studio Direct Appeal with Script + Teleprompter
If it’s inconvenient to have us come to your location to film, then make an appointment in our studio in downtown Gainesville and record your scripted video message without disrupting your office.

Goal: Sales
If you want to appeal to your viewer to close the deal, speak directly into the camera as though you are looking them in the eye — our teleprompter can help — and make your big ask. This direct appeal video is similar in intent to the example above, but rather than on-location at your space, it is captured in our studio in downtown Gainesville, FL at a more affordable rate. While you don’t get the personal and authentic touch of demonstrating your company and culture at your own location, shooting in our studio is a more budget-friendly option for this type of video.

Typical Price Range: $875 – $3,500
Some variables affecting pricing include: shoot time, green screen backdrop (lower budget) vs custom set, scriptwriting, etc.

EXAMPLE #7:

Format: Short Docu-Style Story
We’ll work with you to storyboard a more in-depth 10-15 minute story, then film multiple subjects over multiple days to produce a powerful documentary-style video that adds exceptional value to your brand. The docu-style story gets deep into the heart of the subject matter surrounding your business, positioning your brand as a thought leader and expert in your industry.

Goal: Visitor Engagement
Share high-value content to engage new audiences, museum visitors, or guests.

Typical Price Range: $10,000 – $30,000
Variables include shoot time, number of locations, stock footage, designing of custom elements, etc.

Batch-Producing Video Content:

If you know you’re going to need more videos down the road, there is considerable value to be gained in planning ahead in order to batch-produce multiple videos at once.

In such cases, we’ll work with you in the storyboarding phase to define filming objectives that prepare us to capture content for multiple videos in the scope of just one project. To put it another way, if you’re going to mobilize a handful of staff and customers to share their stories on video, you might as well ask them questions from different angles to use for several videos.

For example, with a little foresight, we were able to capture the content for 1 Vision Video + 2 Product Videos for Phalanx Defense Systems across 10 customer interviews in the course of 2 shooting days. This saved the client time and money compared to commissioning each of the videos as separate projects.
